John Mayer and Counting Crows
August 20, 2003 - Meadows Music Theater
Hartford, CT
Well the show was really great, John was amazing as usual... But then we got in an accident on the way home.. Taken from an IM:
Theres 2 turning lanes to get on 91 after the concert
I was in the turning/straight lane
but i was going to turn.
Car on the left of me, decided they wanted to go straight
no blinker
so im going to turn and im like OH SHIT CAR RIGHT NEXT TO ME
and Dawns like KATIE
and there was nothing I could do at that point, so I just STOPPED
She was driving a van
so the mirrors knocked into each other
I'm pretty sure her mirror is fine..
Mine is shattered and hanging off the car
Also they were doing JM trivia, and i was sucking it up. So the Q for tickets to PILOT PEN.. I knew the answer.. as it was "Love Song For No One" aka my fave john song in the world. So the guy choses me, I scream the answer, hes like YEAH but the girl in charge picked another winner. And I was like WTF I so had it first. So instead I got 2 tickets to see the premiere or some movie thats rated P fucking G.. so I dunno if Im gonna go.. AND it's in Manchester and I have no idea where that is..
3x5 - I liked this.. as the opener.. cuz it was all... didn't have a camera by my side this time.. and I decided against taking my camera in.. so yeah.. I felt a connection
No Such Thing - This was awesome.. so early in the show.. Dawn missed it cuz se was gone.. awesome awesome He started out by saying it was a song he wrote in 1972 LOL
Something's Missing - I didn't know this one so it was sad. I sat and listened very intently.
My Stupid Mouth - YAY this one was also awesome...
Bigger Than My Body - I *kinda* knew this one, but i really really really like it
83 - Another really fun one.. Man. All of them were fun. He added in "Girls just wanna have fun"
Come Back To Bed - Another new one I didn't really know.. He added in.. can't always get what you want...
Your Body is a Wonderland - The place went so nuts on this one.. Of course.. Yeah. Awesome.
Why Georgia - I generally do not like this song on the cd, and i was not pleased it was a single, but I always enjoy it live for some reason.
encore
Wheel - This one he was on stage all alone for.. so it was cool.. the place was emptying out so I had a clear view of him and it was neat.
Back To You - Another one he totally got us all rockin' out to.
He did a couple really long guitar solos.. and I was just so incredibly impressed with him.. He's amazing. Amazing amazing amazing. (I stole the adjective from Nick and now am using it to describe EVERYTHING)
